What a Drop in Rates Could Mean for Your Next Move
As we continue to watch interest rates in the news, it’s clear that even small changes could have a significant impact on the real estate market. A slight dip in rates could unlock new opportunities for buyers, improving purchasing power and bringing homes that once seemed out of reach back into play. For sellers, lower rates typically mean more eager buyers, leading to...
Thinking of Buying a Home Overseas? Start Here.
As the world seems to get smaller and smaller, many Americans are purchasing second homes around the globe. Five of the most popular foreign destinations for US citizens to own property right now include...
The End of an Era, the Start of Something New
Of all the milestones Kelly and I have shared (and there have been many during our 20 years of friendship and 10 years working together!), none have been so poignantly bittersweet as the high school graduation of our youngest children...
City Living in the District
The spring market sprung early this year, as it often does in the DMV. While the first quarter kept us on our toes with multiple offer situations and brisk buyer activity, the second quarter has opened with a dose of market whiplash...

Does the election impact DC’s real estate market?
While this might be the number one question a realtor hears this time of year during a Presidential Election year, the answer might surprise you! Our official answer is "yes" — although it may not be in the way you think. Many people assume that...
In Memoriam: Gus Anifantis
On June 28th, our beloved teammate Eva's husband, Gus, died suddenly and tragically in what can only be described as a freak accident while playing pick-up basketball at a local rec center. Gus was 62 years old and a life-long athlete and basketball player (even playing professionally in Greece).
Where Would You Live?
Summertime! It is fully upon us and has us all here at Finnell Lee Homes dreaming about where we would love to spend some of our free time. At a recent team meeting we posed the question, "if you could have a second home ANYWHERE in the world, where would it be?"
Happy Holidays from Finnell Lee Homes
Well, 2023 has certainly been one for the books when it comes to the real estate market! As the year draws to a close, we here at Finnell Lee Homes are reflecting on the past 12 months — appreciating the highs, acknowledging the lows, and focusing on how we can apply all that we’ve learned to improve ourselves as we move forward in this ever-changing, always-exciting, and perpetually unpredictable industry!
Happy Halloween from Finnell Lee Homes
Fall is our favorite time of year in so many ways -- we love that back-to-school feeling, the colors of autumn, the first hint of sweater weather, and of course, the start of football and the culmination of baseball. This year, however, is throwing us a bit of a curve ball!
The Opportunity To Do More
Hollywood has nothing on the realtor community of Washington DC this time of year! At the beginning of summer, several local and national publications come out with their lists of best and top-producing agents. It's fun! It feels great to be recognized and to celebrate with our colleagues another productive and rewarding year. If you have a few realtors on your social media feed, however, you might agree that it can also be a bit much at times. For us, announcing to anyone who will listen that we won an award for being good at our job just does not come very easily. While trying to come up with a way to let people know that we are more than qualified to help them with their real estate needs, yet not sound like the social media equivalent of an honor roll bumper sticker, we came upon a quote that really resonated with us. Jonas Salk, the developer of the polio vaccine once said, "The reward for work well done is the opportunity to do more."
Summer Kick Off
That feeling of change is in the air as schools start to wind down and energy shifts toward summer plans. We have actually had a spring here in the DC metro area--something we don't always get-- with pleasantly cool days mixed in with previews of the heat to come.
Meet Kristi Muldoon Stevens
Kristi Muldoon Stevens joined Finnell Lee Homes after many years as a Critical Care Registered Nurse. Please join us in welcoming her to the team!
Planning for Your Upcoming Move
Last month, Anne-Marie and her family experienced their first move since 2001, when she and her husband relocated to DC from their NYC apartment. Here is what she had to say about the process:
Happy Holidays from Finnell Lee Homes
It is hard to believe we are entering the final days of 2022...and what a year it has been for the DC metro area housing market. Despite some ups and downs, the year is ending on a positive note.
3rd Quarter Market Update
Even if you aren't in the market to buy or sell your home right now, it is hard to avoid the very loud chatter from media, friends, and neighbors about the changing real estate market in the US and, more importantly, in your backyard.
How is the Market?
We are well into the fall real estate market here in the DC metro area. The question, "How is the market?" is one we are asked all the time, all year long, and if we could sum up this area's fall market so far with a quick status update, it would certainly be, "It's Complicated."
Finnell Lee Summer
This season is a great time of year to spend with family, and soak in special moments. We have each enjoyed summer so far and wanted to share some highlights from each of our families and what lies ahead. Given the shifting dynamics in our families and all the excitement and anxiety that comes with it, we feel uniquely prepared to help you, and all our clients, face the shifting winds of the real estate market and to still help all of you achieve your real estate objectives.
Celebrating the Class of 2022
Running a business together naturally means that we spend a LOT of time together. When you add in the fact that our combined seven children were all born between 2001 and 2007, it means that the timing of many of life's milestones aligns for us as well.
Reflections From Kelly on Her Mom
Happy Mother's Day! If you're lucky enough to be able to spend time with your mom or with other women in your life who are moms this weekend, we hope you enjoy every minute. The older I get, the more I understand and appreciate how my mom helped shape me into the person I am today.
Reflections From Anne-Marie on Her Mom
Happy Mother's Day! If you're lucky enough to be able to spend time with your mom or with other women in your life who are moms this weekend, we hope you enjoy every minute. The older I get, the more I understand and appreciate how my mom helped shape me into the person I am today.
Powerful Reach Throughout the DMV
As longtime residents of AU Park, we have helped countless clients move to our beloved neighborhood over the years, and it's certainly a lot of fun to work where we live. Quite often, however, we get the opportunity to spread our wings into all parts of the DMV and beyond-- putting our "powerful reach" into action in Potomac, McLean, Alexandria, and even out to the Eastern Shore of MD and Middleburg, VA!
It All Starts With Community
Although Kelly was a stay-at-home mom for 10 years before entering real estate, she was by no means confined to her house. While raising her four children, Kelly continuously served her community as an advocate and supporter. A Washington, D.C., resident for over 30 years, Kelly was the former PTA President, a board member for Janney Elementary School, and the co-founder of an annual community 5K, which raises much-needed funding for teachers and students at DCPS.
