Well, 2023 has certainly been one for the books when it comes to the real estate market! As the year draws to a close, we here at Finnell Lee Homes are reflecting on the past 12 months — appreciating the highs, acknowledging the lows, and focusing on how we can apply all that we’ve learned to improve ourselves as we move forward in this ever-changing, always-exciting, and perpetually unpredictable industry!
Fall is our favorite time of year in so many ways -- we love that back-to-school feeling, the colors of autumn, the first hint of sweater weather, and of course, the start of football and the culmination of baseball. This year, however, is throwing us a bit of a curve ball!
Hollywood has nothing on the realtor community of Washington DC this time of year! At the beginning of summer, several local and national publications come out with their lists of best and top-producing agents. It's fun! It feels great to be recognized and to celebrate with our colleagues another productive and rewarding year. If you have a few realtors on your social media feed, however, you might agree that it can also be a bit much at times. For us, announcing to anyone who will listen that we won an award for being good at our job just does not come very easily. While trying to come up with a way to let people know that we are more than qualified to help them with their real estate needs, yet not sound like the social media equivalent of an honor roll bumper sticker, we came upon a quote that really resonated with us. Jonas Salk, the developer of the polio vaccine once said, "The reward for work well done is the opportunity to do more."
That feeling of change is in the air as schools start to wind down and energy shifts toward summer plans. We have actually had a spring here in the DC metro area--something we don't always get-- with pleasantly cool days mixed in with previews of the heat to come.
Kristi Muldoon Stevens joined Finnell Lee Homes after many years as a Critical Care Registered Nurse. Please join us in welcoming her to the team!
Last month, Anne-Marie and her family experienced their first move since 2001, when she and her husband relocated to DC from their NYC apartment. Here is what she had to say about the process:
It is hard to believe we are entering the final days of 2022...and what a year it has been for the DC metro area housing market. Despite some ups and downs, the year is ending on a positive note.
Even if you aren't in the market to buy or sell your home right now, it is hard to avoid the very loud chatter from media, friends, and neighbors about the changing real estate market in the US and, more importantly, in your backyard.
We are well into the fall real estate market here in the DC metro area. The question, "How is the market?" is one we are asked all the time, all year long, and if we could sum up this area's fall market so far with a quick status update, it would certainly be, "It's Complicated."
This season is a great time of year to spend with family, and soak in special moments. We have each enjoyed summer so far and wanted to share some highlights from each of our families and what lies ahead. Given the shifting dynamics in our families and all the excitement and anxiety that comes with it, we feel uniquely prepared to help you, and all our clients, face the shifting winds of the real estate market and to still help all of you achieve your real estate objectives.
